Meet Dr. Galya Raz 


Dr. Galya Raz is a native Powegian and San Diegan having been born and raised in Poway, California. She attended college at the University of California, Davis where she graduated with honors receiving her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences. Dr. Raz then went on to complete her dental education at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, School of Dental Medicine where she fell in love with periodontics and graduated Cum Laude in 2013.

Upon receiving her dental degree, Dr. Raz pursued her passion for periodontology and implantology at the University of California, Los Angeles. During her time at UCLA, Dr. Raz trained in advanced periodontal and implant surgical procedures and received a Master of Science in Oral Biology. She also developed and initiated a clinical research protocol evaluating the treatment of periodontal disease with non-surgical laser therapy. She received her Certificate in Periodontology and Implantology from UCLA in 2016. After completing her postgraduate education, Dr. Raz returned to Las Vegas as a Visiting Assistant Professor where she developed the clinical Pre-Doctoral Dental Implant program for dental students. During her time as an assistant professor at UNLV, Dr. Raz was the only full-time periodontist serving the pre-doctoral surgical needs. She performed periodontal and implant surgeries while serving as the course director and lecturer for six yearly periodontal and implant courses. While teaching at UNLV, Dr. Raz received the Outstanding Educator Award from The American Academy of Periodontology. In addition to treating patients at Tooth Rock Periodontics, Dr. Raz has returned to her alma mater as a Lecturer at the UCLA Post-Graduate Periodontal and Implant Residency where she works with residents teaching surgery and sedation.


Dr. Raz is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology. Her memberships include:

Dr. Raz returned home to Poway and San Diego in 2019 to join Dr. Bruce Johnson in practice. When not practicing periodontics, Dr. Raz enjoys practicing yoga, painting, baking cookies and listening to vinyl records with her husband Eli and German shepherd dog, Freddy.
